"The room was a bit plain but everything was very clean. The location was very convenient to subway and the neighborhood felt very safe. My only complaint was a couple of times the staff (maintenance men) attempted to come into the room unannounced to check for a leak in the room below."

"I thought the amenities were so bad, I demanded a refund and changed hotels within 10 minutes of checking in."

"The Hayden is undergoing extensive renovations. The rooms completed are fine. The plumbing did present problems, toilets etc. and hot water did not seem to be available untill after 9am.Overall we did enjoy our stay.A modest hotel in an excellent safe area."

"Great location. Clean. After reading some reviews we were a little concerned, but it was great. The shared bathroom was no problem, they were clean. (they might be cold in the winter, though-there was no heater that we saw.)Maid service everyday, rooms were small, but for the money it was the best deal in the city. It's like a hostel in a great neighborhood."

"The hotel is being refitted, therefore I imagine the rooms will be in better shape. The room I had didn't have a closet to hang anything and the bathroom and shower room was very small and the one mirror in that room was somewhat high for my being short.
However I would go again and ask for a bigger room with a closet. I was told to ask for that in the future.
The neighborhood is great. I grew up there and it felt safe walking around and there are so many places to visit and the public transportation is convenient.
The customer service in a way is fair. I was refused to have help carrying my suitcase up the stairs when I arrived, and then down the stairs when I was leaving. They do not have anyone for that type of service."

"Close to subway stop and great 24-hour deli opposite selling all kinds of food and amenities. Short walk to the park and 5th Avenue."

"The room that we had was small and in need of repair. the door knob stuck and we had to call to get out of the room. WE did not expect to have a bathroom down the hall as we had booked two rooms. We expected to share a bath with our friends. OUr floor looked like they had stopped in the middle of construction to refurbish the hotel. The down the hall bathroom had no soap dispenser or paper towels. The door frames in the bathroom and in our room were unfinished.
When we asked the night before we left that the desk reserve a cab for our trip back to the airport, they assured us they would. Instead they booked a car that cost us more than a taxi and then told us they would not call a cab."

"Here's how your website describes the hotel:
The Hayden hall is a charming 100-room, handsomely decorated, budget-minded, but quality hotel located in the prestigious upper west side neighborhood of Columbus and79th Street. The Hayden Hall hotel offers luxury accommodations and amenities such as private baths, suites, ceiling fans, voicemail, color TV, fax and daily maid service at economy hotel prices. This inexpensive Manhattan hotel has quality lodgings at reasonable prices and offers a prime location just walking distance to New York City's finest attractions- Museum of Natural History, Hayden Planetarium, Lincoln Center, Central Park, the famous Sony Imax Theatre, and Columbus Avenues world famous restaurants and shopping district. Make the Hayden Hall hotel your choice for quality service and clean lodging on a budget.
And here's how I describe our experience:
It was disgusting - I know it's a budget hotel but everything about it except the location was hideous. The place was filthy especially the bathrooms - there wasn't even a hook to hang your towels up. I was amazed not to see rats in the place, I bet it's infested with cockroaches in the summer. The staff were pathetic - no customer service at all. Your website is totally misleading and incorrect as the amenities you describe do not exist at the hotel.
I think someone from your organization needs to take a trip there - you'll find the hotel to fit my description rather than what's on your website. Oh yes, and please do include these comments on your website - your readers will appreciate them."

"This is an old hotel and thus rather grim. It is less expensive and if nothing else is available, you can stand it. Be prepared for no cleaning service during stay, extra charges for telephone, few TV channels and no amenities. Best thing about the hotel is the location. With extensive renovations could be a gem."
